Subject: Attn! Useful info on Autorun

I highly recommend that anyone who has Windows 7x64, save the following method link for future reference. At some point during a process( partly inspired by thi thread - all your fault ChainD ;)) of installing Adobe Premier, using AVC,ripping and copying DVDs etc, - you know the stuff we sometimes do to figure out different ways of doing things when we don't really know what we're doing - I lost my auto run. Couldn't play DVDs BDs and was ready to pull my hair out or worse. I found this link and the last method , going through "services" to an obscure "shell hardware detection" setting, worked. The control panel had been set perfect w/o results, the command prompt method on the link page did not work, but this did,Hooray! from Ryan2320:

The method:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Try this..

1.Click the Start button and go to your search bar(at the bottom of your Start Menu) and type services.
2.You should see under programs the name Services with two gears as icons Click on that program.
3.A window should pop up and scroll down until you see Shell Hardware Detection
4.Right Click and Select Properties
5.Another window should pop up and make sure you are in the General Tab and look until you see Startup Type make sure it is Automatic...
If it is set right then your Autoplay is working...

Also Try this..

If that is the case put a BLANK CD or DVD in the CD tray does anything come up?? (Something should come up)

If so then Autoplay is working..
If not then it has to be something with Control Panel in the Autoplay settings...

I have no more ideas I have tried them ALL...
I Hope this Helps..."
