You don't have to be a tree hugger to be intelligent. The right carry sidearms was included to allow white americans to "defend" themselves against native americans and the spanish, french and other european nations that were all still interested in cutting themselves a little empire in someone else's country. The reason why americans still carry guns is that they are scared of their gangs of kids, gangsters, other gun carriers. A society in which membership in a gang means that 13 - 14 year old girls have to submit to a gang bang (that's where the expression came from) and boys of the same age have to "prove" themselves by killing an innocent subway passenger must be sadly lacking in something. If I lived in your country (God forbid) I would have a gun. I would never take the chance of living amongst 270,000 gun toting John Wayne clones without one... A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.
