when "the shit goes down" and roving gangs of
armed "city dwellers" are terrorizing people and
neighborhoods--stealing, raping, and killing...
and there is no man in a blue uniform with a shiny little badge around to "protect" us.
I think we all would agree that we would want to be able to fight fire with fire, and have some means of defending ourself, our family, and our property.
Remember New Orleans. If a couple of disasters, natural or otherwise(economic collapse), should befall the U.S. simultaneously, it could create an unstable situation where looting and chaos develops and spreads like a cancer from the cities to the suburbs--state to state.
No country is immune from this. It is not only the U.S. which is responsible for the ugliness in the world. We just happen to be the "Britney Spears" on the scene. People love us--hate us-- respect us--disdain us-- can't get enough of us--wish we were dead. I digress..ok.

That being said...I totally agree that the reason for our right to bear arms IS to keep
the government in check--no other reason.
