America needs to seriously scale back the arms industry. Manufacturers profit from the sale of illegal firearms the same as legal sales. It's time to license all gun owners and register every weapon by serial number. Outlaw so called "gun shows" and make all firearms transactions go through a licensed dealer including inheritances. Put some teeth into the laws as well for those who discharge a firearm illegally seven years mandatory with no time off might help. Those prohibited by law from posessing firearms should get 10 years if caught with one and life imprisonbment if they harm someone with a gun. Recently a man accidently discharged a weapon in the local mall and criticly wounded his girlfriend. No charges were filed against him even though he was under 21 and prohibited from owning a pistol. Our D.A. is an ass.
