How you doing over there? Hope you're feeling back to normal now. Things are kind of busy for me, but I just wanted to ask, Have you seen Doomsday yet? I just watched it the other night and the main thing I have to say about it is: what horrible editing!!!
For 113 minutes I felt like I was watching a *trailer* for the movie rather than the *actual movie itself*. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was fun, but it looked to me like they had a *very* good 2 1/2 hr movie which, for some crazy reason, had been butchered and hacked down to something which allows for no breathing time whatsoever. Not one second of it.
Tension and release. Tension and release. Tension and release, right? Not in this case. 30 minutes in, I was already exhausted. By the end of it all, my eyeballs just ached.
I'd be interested to know what you think. Was it a case of studio meddling? I mean the whole setup in the first act was so painfully abbreviated as to look amateurish. Did the suits have no faith in the Marshall's final product? Did they order all those rapidfire edits in an attempt to make it more palatable for mainstream audiences?
I had no problems with all the obvious references, those were all fave movies of mine. But it's just immensely frustrating to watch something which smacks of so much wasted potential.
Anyway, like I said, I look forward to hearing what you think/know about it, and I hope you're back up to speed again. Catch you later, pal, more fun stuff when I can catch a break. Till then... :-)
