For those not familiar, he was the victim of a police beating in 1991 and the failure to convict the officers involved sparked riots in LA that caused more than $1 billion in damge and led to police reforms. His public comments as the riots continued," can't we all get along" became famous and helped bring the the riots to an end. Good story.
