Big wildfifires esp. Friday and saturday not far east of here. This isn't usually the fire season, but the last two years have had extraordinarily hot and dry summers( 110+ Fri. and Sat.), even for here. A friend of mine and his dad live out in the area of the fires but escaped the devastation, though they had to evacuate. Its a rural area and community , but with homea nd trailor homes scattered throughtout - heavily wooded with black jack oak and cedar trees. The worst was Fri., Fri. night and Saturday. Sunday saw a wind shift and less extreme temps and humidities.

Here are some pics i snapped Friday afternoon. I've seen a lot of smoke from wildfires but this was big. Even more unusual and the reason I snapped these photos was the cumulus clouds being formed by the rising column of hot air and smoke. Interesting. I've not seen are that here before.Actually the clouds at the top were more easly distinguished as watched. But these shots do get the idea across:
