Liberal media bias -- the general point, then, was that the more educated and urban, the more liberal. When we look at the best media outlets in the country (NYTimes, Washington Post, NPR, etc.) they are all urban, and they are run by people who have obtained a high level of education and experience. They are liberal because the process of getting to the top also tended to evolve their understandings of how the world works.
It would be almost impossible to work for, say, the NY Times and be narrow and provincial.
Quite frankly, it's much tougher to find highly educated, broadly experience conservatives to staff conservative media for the same reasons; their very experience tends to liberalize their perspectives.
There are some (Krauthammer comes to mind) but they are no where near as many of them.
