That's an odd argument, boomer, considering that in most places renewable energy sources are now cheaper than fossil fuels. That's why solar is the choice, already, for most new installations.
Coal is already all but completely out of the mix (although we'll continue to use coal for a long time in lots of existing power plants).
The economic arguments will only get stronger as prices continue to fall, and technology continues to improve). Renewable energy is where we're going, and the lobbying efforts of the fossil fuel industry will do nothing more than delay the inevitable.
