She was lucky. Step-framing through the incident, one can see that the sea lion had released her before she was fully in the water, and did not interfere with grandpa retrieving her. So it's not like the sea lion was fighting for a meal. It may have mistaken her clothing as food. OR it may have been a stepped up warning, "Stop fucking with me, you irritating humans!"
One can't take this or any scenario for granted, of course. Had the animal been super hungry or in a majorly pissy mood, the outcome may have been different.
Lucky for all involved. She got away and the sea lion wouldn't have to find out he'd be hungry again in thirty minutes.
