You can teach a person about ethics and morals and civics, but if you don't provide the means for people to eat, then they will steal when they are hungry. So I think we need to look at our whole way of living, which I think is unbalanced from the top down.
I think we have become so stupefied by free market ideology, inappropriately over applied, that we ignore what's right in front of us. Greed is not good; greed is very bad. It's not okay, and it's not wise to ignore your neighbor's problems, because eventually they will become your problems too.
