Humans are the only species that has the ability to deceive themselves. It doesn't surprise me that aborigines think children come from spirits or when many think we came from monkeys (before the flaming begins, don't bother giving me your evo. vs. create lecture because you'll just waste space and words). Most animals don't have the ability to think beyond what we consider as a 6 year old's mentality but they have the added concerns like survival that we take for granted. They breed when nature tells them but many will accept sex when it's offered. Do they understand what their actions produce? I think so. Otherwise, why would male birds build nests or foxes dig burrows when all they want is the enjoyment of sex? Why would many species remain monogomous when all they want is sex? I think we humans are the only ones who deceive ourselves with fairytales.
