I'm not sure what you mean about the colored contacts. In some of the shots he appears to have blue eyes while others have the characteristic redeye from the camera's flash. Others suggest brown eyes. If they are blue then that's natural. A horse with blue eyes is said to have "glass eyes". It's just an eye pigment thing like a blue eyed human. I doubt any horse would let anyone mess with its eyes just so it could be stylish. :p
